LCC ACTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA REPORTS, REMOVES WOMAN FROM UNDER FLYOVER – By Tito Kalama

Lusaka City Council (LCC) has swung into action and removed a suspected mentally unstable woman from Makeni Flyover bridge.

The move was prompted by social media pictures of some people alleged to be living under the bridge, with comments insinuating that the newly commissioned bridge had been turned into a home by “street kids”.

However, an operation by state and council police today revealed that the clothes captured and posted on social media belong to a suspected mentally unstable woman who had turned the under bridge into a home.

“When engaged, the woman explained that she moved from the nearby John Laing Compound to take the place which she claimed was created for her being a “commander,” George Sichimba, LCC public relations manager said.

The woman has been taken back to where she came from in John Laing Compound.

The operation was extended to Arcades Bridge where no culprit was found but some street kids were spotted within the vicinity.
