The Zambia Police Service has warned citizens wishing to apply to join the force to be wary of fraudsters who may swindle them out of their money.
Zambia Police has placed an advertisement in the media on its officer recruitment exercise and called on eligible citizens to apply.
In a statement to the media, Police spokesperson Esther Mwata-Katongo has cautioned against fraudsters who may create fake Facebook accounts using particulars and pictures of police officers with the motive of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public out of money.
Mrs. Katongo has cautioned potential applicants that the Zambia Police Service has not engaged any company or persons outside the institution to receive application letters on its behalf except for Commissioners of Police who are based at respective Police Provincial Headquarters and have already put in place modalities on how to receive application letters from applicants.
She advised that all application letters should be taken to Police Provincial Headquarters.
Applicants are also not expected to pay any money for them to submit application letters or secure employment as the whole process is done at no fee.
Mrs. Katongo has called upon members of the public to report all those that would be found soliciting for money from applicants on the pretext that they would facilitate the securing of employment.
