Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa has stated that drivers should not be made to pay cash after their car is clamped, saying:
“Elo, please be informed that if your car is clamped for wrong parking in the Central Business District (CDB), you should never be asked to pay cash.”
Mr. Sampa has taken to his Facebook page and informed motorists that council management has decided that offenders will be issued with a Penalty Ticket if they are found flouting council parking rules.
“They will have seven days to go and pay into advised LCC bank account. If any default or choose to hide and not pay beyond seven days, we shall invite them via a newspaper advert to come and see the judge at our Fast Track Courts based at LCC,” Mr. Sampa warned.
He added: “LCC is headed towards a full non cash payment system to avert cash pilfering that has partly made the council have salary arrears.”
