THREE SHIBUYUNJI DISTRICT MEN SENTENCED FOR K6, 000 THEFT – BY WELLS CHIFUNDA

Three men of Shibuyunji District in Central Province have been sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labor for terrorizing Shibuyunji residents by breaking into their houses and stealing various goods and money, all valued at slightly over K6, 000.
Before Lusaka Magistrate Thandose Chabala, Monday Malambo, aged 21, Donald Namushi, aged 28, and Prince Mweemba, aged 20, plead guilty to breaking into various houses in Shibuyunji district and stealing goods, including a power adaptor, Sony camera, memory card and cement.
In delivering judgment, Magistrate Chabala expressed disappointment that the convicts are young and energetic but decided to engage in criminal activities instead of helping to better their community.
Hon. Chabala said that despite the convicts not wasting the court’s time, it was important that the court exercise its duty to punish offenders and also send a warning to would-be offenders.
