Under the newest COVID-19 restrictions, Christmas in the UK has been quite so far, with the Queen and Prince Philip spending their time at Windsor castle rather than Sandringham this Christmas. It is the first time that they didn’t spend their Christmas time at Sandringham since the mid 1980s.
Unlike usual where the royal family celebrates Christmas together, this year they will be following the newest restrictions and will not visit each other.
The queen will also forgo private visits to church service and worship to avoid gathering the crowd.
Her Christmas Day speech will be broadcast at 15:00 GMT today. It is believed that the speech will cover the hard Christmas time for all UK citizens that are unable to meet their families.
